Helios is a character closely linked to King Endymion through the Earth itself. Helios role is guarding the land known as Elysian, Earth, and Prince Endymion himself. Helios continually calls Endymion Prince as a sign of the present time. (King Endymion is only used in the future. During the Dream arc, Mamoru is not yet married to Usagi indicating that he is still a Prince). However he does not guard King Endymion's Golden crystal, which is a counterpart to Neo Queen Serenity's Ginzuishou (Silver crystal). During the Dream arc of the series, Helios helps Prince Endymion become aware of the Golden crystal lying inside him and that he must find a maiden to unlock it.
Helios also has an impact on Small Lady by divulging all his secrets through his Pegasus form to her. He calls her Lady Serenity and has foreseen what Small Lady looks like as a young adult. Romance blooms between the two and when the time comes for Helios to return to Elysian he promises Small Lady that they will someday meet again.
Helios refers to the Greek sun god Helios. Helios and Elios are interchangable names. Elios in Greek means the sun.
