Luna and Artemis were both advisors to Queen Serenity in the Silver Millennium. They come from the planet Mau. During the attack of the Moon, they were both reincarnated onto Earth. Artemis awakens first and finds Sailor V (later on she takes on the namesake Sailor Venus). Luna finds Sailormoon. In the future, still advisors to the crown, Luna and Artemis have their own daughter, known as Diana. She mirrors after both her parents as a guardian and companion to Small Lady. All three of our advisor cats can transform into humans, although it has only happened a few times in the duration of the manga.
Note that the guardian cats never appear in the manga after they are injured by Sailor Tin Nyanko. Thus it is unknown whether or not they survived into the future. However, it is stated when Sailormoon entered the Galaxy Cauldron that everyone was to be reborn. Perhaps this rebirth included the guardian cats. We assume this theory is correct, which allows the guardian cats to live happily in the future with the rest of the characters in the series.
