The Deep Submerge Awards

Are you ready to show what your site is made out of? Want to be acknowledged for all the hard work you've done on your site? Then please welcome The Deep Submerge Awards 2008. We're here to acknowledge everyone's hard work over the year and keeping the fandom alive. Our itinerary as followed...

  • July 2008 - advertise ^^; please use the link button above to advertise on your site to let your favorite visitors know that they can nominate you!
  • August- September 2008 - nominations will begin for the below categories.
  • October-November 2008 - voting will begin.
  • December 2008 - results will be posted ^^

nomination categories

As I said we're not doing the typical Best site, Best Owner, Best Layout etc. but will be based on a variety of "best" artistic/work criteria. Below are the nominal categories along with a detailed description or useful questions you can ask yourself of what you should be looking for in a site.

  • Best Color Scheme this is in regards to the overall layout and CSS. Do all the colors on the site flow, is there something that makes or adds on to the site because of the colors used?
  • Best Home/Welcome page not necessarily having to do with splash pages. This can just be the front page or main page of a site. How helpful or appealing is just the front page to you? Not looking at the other sections of the site, the Main page just makes you says wow!
  • Best Navigation/structure Is it really easy to navigate around the site? Or is everything really cluttered and you have no idea how to work your way around the site? Is there something unique about how the owner uses navigation techniques? i.e. trendy CSS hovers etc.
  • Best Writing style Do you just love reading the content on the site because the owner has such an eloquent way of writing? Or do they write in a way that makes you laugh, etc. Do note that I require proper grammar and spelling if you decide to nominate a site in this category.
  • Best use of Typography How well does the site manipulate FONTs? This does NOT have to do with writing style. This is solely based on how an owner uses Fonts to their advantage. This includes anything from the fonts used in their layout to the chosen CSS fonts.
  • Best use of Images How well does the site manipulate images? This does NOT have to do with image galleries. This deals with the use of images around the site or the layout image. Does the owner use unique images? Or if it's a well known image did they manipulate it in a new and different way?
  • Best Visual Design/ Aesthetic The creme of the crop. When you visit the site does it make your eyes go wow? Do you enjoy browsing the site because it's so beautifully laid out with a great color scheme, great usage of fonts and images?
  • Best Visual Design/ Function The creme of the crop II. When you visit the site not only is it pleasing to the eye the navigational structure, the way content is laid out...is just awesome?
  • Best Community site How well does the site bring together fans? This doesn't necessarily have to do with open and deep discussions on if Sailorcosmos really is Sailormoon, but rather just a place for fans to maybe chill and enjoy their stay and/or how contributing is the site to the general Sailormoon community?
  • Innovative content Does this site have unique content you don't see anywhere else? Does the site present content in a way that is informative and interesting?

note to site owners

During nomination period you're free to work on your site if you wish i.e. changing layout, content, etc. I believe if you're a consistent owner in quality and design etc. you should be able to come up with something (not necessarily similar) but mirroring your style. The visitors to your site (or someone who nominated you) probably visit your site often and enjoy all aspects of your site and a layout change won't affect anything.

During voting you may NOT change/alter any part of your site, besides reasonable small updates during our Voting process. This is to keep all votes consistent.

Guidelines

  • You may nominate your own site. Although I think it would be more fitting for someone else who enjoys your site to do so.
  • Provide a link back to DS. Please use the Deep Submerge Award button. I will send an email to the owner if they are nominated. If I don't see the button up by the time voting comes around, the site will be disqualified.
  • Must be already listed at DS. I won't take any nominees that aren't sites listed here.
  • 5 categories you may only pick up to five categories for the site to be nominated for.
  • Must include WHY You must include why you're nominating the site for each of the categories the site is nominated for. If I don't receive a genuine WHY (and don't give an obvious answer like.."because they're the best!") the site will not be added.
  • Nominate as many sites as you wish.

I highly suggest everyone look around the directory at ALL the sites before filling out a form for a favorite site etc. Note that I will be also nominating sites that I find may not have a large fan-base so they also get a chance to shine, so I hope you do the same!
